Demetrius slept for a long time
It was dark when he opened his eyes
Still no sound came from the house
And to him that was a surprise.
He got up and looked out the window
The heat was stiflingly warm
He saw some bees in the background
Hovering ,ready to swarm.
Making his way to the kitchen
For a well deserved cup of tea
He bumped into his Mother
Who he was glad to see.
Julia looked sombre
As if she had received bad news
Either that or it was because of her age
She often got the blues.
Her nimble body was dwindling
As age was setting in fast
Demetrius often wondered
How long this woman would last.
He hugged her tightly, kissed her
He was relieved she had been alright
Because of the past he thought the worst
He was glad to see her tonight.
Julia wondered what was going on
As he guided her into the lounge
He poured them both a stiff drink
The ice he needed to scrounge.
