Walking down the cobbled street
Her Stiletto's loud in the night
Looking around her as she walked
Nervous without any light.
Seeing her reflection in the shop window
Made her cringe in dismay
To think I used to be beautiful she thought
Aged in this mask today.
Nearly home enjoying the air
She stopped and saw the man
Wondering what she would say to him
maybe a "hello" if she can!
She remembered the time she asked him to leave
Over a spilled glass of beer
His eyes were wild ,red with rage
somehow it made her fear.
But apart from that she had to stop
To show no feelings were bad
He was sitting amongst the flowering bushes
His dog moved his tail, just a tad.
Wagging his tail in joyous formation
Happy with meeting someone new
Knowing his master was growingly unhappy
Trying to make him come through.
She spoke to the man receiving no response
His vision was pointing to the stream
As if he wasn’t there at all
Stuck in some sort of dream.
Eventually he looked right into her eyes
Sadness was all she could see
She took his hand into her own
Then turned their attention to the tree.
The same old tree had been there for years
Memories of when they were both young
Carved in the tree were sentences
Of lyrics they once had sung.
