DAILY POEM "THE GUIDER"

It was made of wood and rubber
the wheels were off an old pram
the wood was found in the nearby woods
by me and my mate Sam.

The expertise it took to build
a machine of speed and haste
was a thing that needed to take its time
and nothing could go to waste.

string was used to steer the craft
or better still stronger rope
it was imperative it depended on safety
when flying down a slope.

The finished article was beautiful
standing proud as a shining new pin
instead of using a bottle of champagne
it was christened by a dash of gin.

The speed it gathered amazing
the brakes were your trusty feet
on the track were twenty guiders
and always a fast one to beat.

The pram wheels were designed to be sturdy
as they bumped and bashed all the way
wheels that were very tough to break
not like they are made today.

The memories of my old guider
4 wheels and a lump of wood
was built to stand any race on wheels
and win the race for good

This was the job when we were younger, it was made of wood had four wheels and u operated the steering with a rope, man was it class, a great toy to pass your time, the pic illustrated gives u a wee idea but its not really how it looked, use your imagination.

What was your favourite plaything?
