DAILY POEM "DON'T PRETEND"

You try to be someone your not
at times this can be apt
but sometimes it isn't suitable
and yes this idea should be scrapped.

Being who you are is important
everyone will respect this in you
when your happy people will notice
but don't try it when your feeling blue.

Wearing two hats is difficult
especially when you have to pretend
your head can only fit one snugly
don't force it to fit trying to bend.

In this world you are noted for your honesty
so be true to yourself and to others
for everyone will notice the difference
especially your sisters and brothers.

You will be respected as who you are
friends will never desert you
everyone will be happy to help
even more friends you may accrue.

There are so many pretentious people
acting the clown and playing the part
but deep down respect and love yourself
you will be in everyones heart.

No matter what you look like
if your skin be black or white
we are all the same animals underneath
and will all hope to join the "light"

People may make fun of you
because you are different to them
just ignore the ignorance around you
admit to yourself your a "Gem"

Jealousy can be a human trait
everyone wants to be number one
but thats not possible in these times
second or third can be fun.

Take a look at yourself in the mirror
realize you are what you are
don't try to imitate celebrities
your more precious to your family by far.

And when you age naturally
don't try to go under the knife
your body is how its meant to be
being somebodys husband or wife.

Until there is a drug
that can turn your life around
be who you are, respect yourself
you will benefit from it and be sound.

How many times do you hear people say.I don't want to get fat? I dont like her, ooooo he is ugly, look at her she is old.. He hasn't got the same skin color as me? well so what? if we were all meant to be glamerous models then God would have given everyone the same looks the same bodies and then what would young girls have to complain about, what would plastic surgeons do? I know they would be poor, because the amount of people who cosmetically change themselves to look younger or have bigger boobs or get their willy enhanced is ridiculous.....

Do you know of anyone like this? do you know anyone who has spent thousands to make themselves look good?, would love your comments.....

  1. Sorry Billy, I don't know anyone who has spent thousands to make themselves look good, but I have read and hear on the news about many of them. Most people I know are like me, living from check to check. However, I do know people who try to be someone else, and tell you the truth that makes them hard to get along with or know becuse you never know from one day to the next what they are going to be like. I am so glad that when you see me, "What you see today is what you will always get" because I like me and I don't plan to change for anyone. God made me into what He wanted me to be and He is happy with me, and that is all that matters to me. I love your poem my friend. You have a very special gift.

  5. before I read your poem, i had entered a line in the application of a mommy blogging site, and it said to write what your rule is when blogging, and i wrote "I write what's true, weather right or wrong, no matter what prize is at stake"

your poem is so true, so many people have gone too far into trying to be someone else, that they have completely lost themselves in the process.
    have a great week!!

  6. This is a powerful message. I think people really respond to those of us who are happy with who they are and accepting of all that this entails. But, it seems to be easier for some than for others. And there is a great deal of pressure out there that being relevent is tied to outer beauty and youth. I wish it were all even, that folks could truly cherish each stage of their lives and see the beauty in change and aging. Maybe one day.

Also, how wonderful that you are doing so well with your writing. Congratulations.

  7. Great poem! The picture is a perfect fit!
This is so true and perfectly worded:

    “Wearing two hats is difficult
especially when you have to pretend
your head can only fit one snugly
don't force it to fit trying to bend”

I did know someone who spent thousands on trying to look better, younger, and firmer. She died of liver cancer in her early 60’s . sad..
